Seven hours later and the carving and smoothing is done! Wahoo! I used bread racks and white wire closet shelfs to ┬álay all the tiles on so they dry even. I will still cover with plastic so they don’t dry too fast. I will let them dry for 1 or 2 weeks. I have to do some research to see how long they need to really dry. I read somewhere 3 weeks! I’m sure it also depends on atmospheric conditions. The air is still pretty dry from winter.

I just ordered this book, maybe I should have gotten it before I started? Nah! That would’ve been to logical.

  1. You did a great job. will you paint them after the first firing?

  2. congratulations! I am anxious to see the finished project with some color on it

  3. If a piece doesn’t dry flat you can straighten it during the bisque firing by putting some weight on it. have you tried this ?
