I feel sorry for the drones or do I? There only purpose in their short life is to impregnate the queen bee. They don’t sting. They don’t do any work. The all female worker bees do all the work in the hive. They are fed by the worker bees. The drones don’t even clean up their own poop. Who does it for them? The girls of course! The drones just lay around eating and pooping until it’s time to chase after the new queen bee, which they do when the queen bee takes her honeymoon flight and all the drones fly after her to be the lucky lover! After which he immediately dies and falls to the ground. The drones who don’t get to be fathers return to the hive but are kicked out when winter rolls around because the women don’t want to waste the scarce winter resources on this now worthless bum. A drone , or any bee for that matter, can not survive very long on his own.
